Paradise Near Málaga

Are you one of those people who loves to go sightseeing? If you want to see something truly special, not far from Gibraltar, you have to go to Bolonia, in Tarifa -- at a 90-minute drive from Málaga!

For history lovers, right by the beach you can see a fabulous collection of Roman ruins named Baelo Claudia, which date back to the villages' heyday when it supplied the whole of the Roman Empire with garum -- a popular fish delicacy.

Imagine yourself taking part in a 2,000 year tradition. Let me suggest you visit it in summer and book a show to the ancient amphitheater. You will be able to contemplate a play under the stars and the light of the moon!

Although mainly famous for its Roman ruins, Bolonia has one of the most breathtaking beaches in Andalucía, with white sand and crystal-clear waters. Next to Bolonia Beach and open to the more energetic ramblers is one of the largest dunes in Europe. However, if you are a birdwatcher you could be more interested in visiting the ornithology centre in a nearby village.

In my view, I recommend not missing the sunset and trying the excellent grilled seafood offered in Tarifa.
Remember to check the weather forecasts to make sure you don't visit when the winds are too strong -- unless you are a windsurfer, of course!

Bolonia is more than a place, it is a collection of varied experiences you will always remember.
