SPRING 2008. Comments by Teachers, sent to the Reading Club thread entitled April 25 - Amazing - Congratulations!
Cristina Romero (April 26, beginning of comment): "I've been teaching at different EEOOII for 25 years and never before had I felt so proud of my colleagues and the students as yesterday.
We all had a delightful evening with the illustrious visitors to our school. Álvaro Pombo was a real pleasure, the Ambassador so charming, the excellent catering served by disciplined students who deserve the highest marks for yesterday's performance, everything turned out perfectly, but what really touched my heart was THE Y4 STUDENTS.
The ushers, all perfect in their white outfit, the woman in white roaming around the courtyard as if her mind were elsewhere, the tablecloths with quotations from the novel, the comments from the blog pinned on the noticeboard, the 75 essays, everything is the result of the thorough job done by your teachers and of your great enthusiasm and interest — it was a celebration of the joy of teaching."
Michelle Ford (April 25, end of comment): "This "Culture is Fun" approach, I have to say, is thanks to my colleagues, who can turn something dull into something full of color, like a little spring, who can turn a school event into a social event full of glamour, culture and passion! My dear colleagues, who can teach & inspire people to love literature! I really hope we can continue working together in this teaching/ learning space we've created as a community on the Internet, and which shows that in state-run education, in spite of meager means, we are eager to do interesting things for everybody's learning and enjoyment! ... So congratulations, everybody, for helping to make this world a better place filling it with good interesting collaborative work!
Marta Peredo Pombo (April 26, middle of comment): "THANK YOU USHERS! I must thank you ushers for your work it was fantastic. You (and the rest of the 4th years) have made this project possible, as participants first and then with the way you hosted the act yesterday. It was perfect and you made it so! Everybody was impressed with the way you were dressed, the way you talked to everyone, the way you helped everyone, the implication you showed, the unity, the way you were in attendace, the girls so beautiful, the boys so handsome, the department is very proud of its ushers! You were the best. The Ambassador enjoyed herself, Alvaro Pombo was delighted, he had great fun!"
Carmen Peredo Pombo (April 26, end of a comment): As for me "when on my couch I lie, in vacant or pensive mood, this day will flash upon me, and then my heart with pleasure will fill" and you all will be my daffodils.
Ana Otto (April 26, end of comment): "Today I am proud to say that reading well is also a pleasure that connects readers as human beings. Thanks everyone for being great readers!"
